Bad news for RCP fans
There is bad news for users of the ring city placement scheme: Firaxis bods have confirmed that it has been eliminated in Consquests.

[Chieftess> [kryszcztov> Will a lot of exploits/bugs/cheats be removed ? Thinking about all that is prohibited at RBCiv for a reference. Ever been there ?
[Merepatra_BA> I haven't been there but a lot of exploits have been fixed
[Firaxis-Ed> kryszcztov- Ring build is fixed in Conquest
[bobT-BA> many exploits have been addressed
[Merepatra_BA> I think our beta testers called our attention to most exploits during testing
[bobT-BA> but as we find them others I am sure will hunt for some way of gaining an edge
[anarres> How is Ring City Placement bug fixed?
[anarres> we heard RCP was fixed
[DrA> how is RCP fixed specifically?
[Merepatra_BA> I can't tell you exactly how the RCP bug is fixed, as I didn't deal with that one. Chieftess might know more than me on that, she was fiddling with it I believe
[Chieftess> I don't know a lot about that either.
[anarres> RCP will be fixed by magic. No-one knows but somehow it will be gone...
[Merepatra_BA> It is gone

Good, I didn't like using it, but saw no choice when facing it in PBEM.

Not OCP, I don't do that much anymore. 4-4.5 tile, not 5.
But I definitely don't like RCP.

Actually I'm glad it's going too, since it isn't the way things were meant to work. I'll have to re-write more of the early game guide though...

RCP fans?
This is good news for everyone except those who can't do city placement. RCP made things a lot easier.
Whether they can replace it with something that cannot be easily exploited remains to be seen.

Simple version, just build all your cities in equal rings around your palace, and corruption will be reduced. It is a bug / exploit that will be eliminated in conquests (and as a beta tester, I can tell you that if you even remotely like civ3, get your hands on conquests as it will be well worth it). Here is a diagram that IIRC Vulture made.

fanes7, look on page 3 of the
AUSG 101 - Domination Team DAR 2
thread for a link that explains it pretty clearly.

RIP comparative games between conquests and previous versions...? Anyone know if they are planning on patching it out of Civ 1.29f and PtW 1.27f?

Thanks, I didn't even know one could do that. Oh, well, if it's an exploit, good riddance.

I don't know anything, but they have stated they will not be patching CivIII after 1.29F. My guess is PTW won't get it either. Thus they will sort of guide us to buy C3C.

It seems comparative games would have been dead even if they had applied the RCP fix to previous versions. Conquests seems to have just too many changes in gameplay.
