Forums gone?
I've noticed that some of the forums appear to be missing, like Dinosaurs in Other Games and maybe another top level forum from Other Games (Original Civ?). Is this by design? A cleanup on the server?

The Dinosaur forum is extinct.
Good thing too, since I won't accidentally select it anymore when scrolling up to Other Games.

Dino and Civilization: The Boardgame has been closed.
Dino simply because it was a dead game, and the Boardgame forum has been combined into the classic games as it didn't have mush of activity.
I think it more is a cleanup of the moderator rounds than a servercleanup... but I leave for Ming and rah to comment on that

Someone would spam the Dinosaurs forum and then months later someone would notice and the spammer would get a slap. It served no other function; good riddance.

It was neither a clean up of the moderator rounds or a server clean up. The reasons Gramphos gave are totally correct. It was just time to do it, and the Owners decided it was the right thing to do. The Owners restructure the forums whenever they see a need for it, and have the time to do it.

I think it's part of the tradition of this forum fading away.
I'll go somewhere and cry.

I think it's more a tradition of the one game not being released, and another games audience in total decline...
No reason to cry

I find it interesting that you write Owners with a capital O. I'm sure that pleases Them.

Well I have been posting on-topic in the Dino forum recently. Just trying to keep the spirit alive
Dino: You will be sorely missed.
Allthough I can certainly see the irony in having a forum for a dead game about an extinct group of animals

How much database space and bandwidth does a dead forum take up, anyways?
It couldn't've been a lot of space--it was, after all, dead

I suspect they just got tired of going in there and cleaning out the spam.

Whatever resources that there was, they were wasted. That was the deadest forum I have ever seen. I think that Oerdin has it right. What's the point of having a dead forum about a dead game anyway?

apperently little to none. Which is why the owners removed the dead forum about the dead game.

Why isn't the BNT forum closed if you're clamping down on dead fora?

For the record, Apolyton's "Dinosaurs" section is still online and archived at the address it has always been located at. The address is:
