What is the best shoot 'em up?
Had to be done really. I'm going for UT 2003, but the original Unreal, U2 and UT also ruled. Quake includes all TMC's, like Soldier of Fortune etc.

Isn't that a quake total mod conversion (TMC)?

In other games forum we'd get plus ones.

Yes, but I've never heard of them, so they don't count.

Where's Q3 Arena? The demo levels were fun, but the rest of it was a55.
Doom3's lighting engine is slow in the coming. By the time it's out, all my twitch-response reflexes will be shot. I already play as slow as a 27-yr. old.

Why wasn't Unreal listed? I vote for Unreal. While the graphics may not have been as detailed or realistic as Unreal II or Wolfenstein 3D the use of color and dramatic effects was superior. It's truely sad that Unreal II didn't follow the lead of the original Unreal. Unreal II also wasted way too much time and space on cut scenes and intermissions on the ship.

Lylat Wars/Starfox 64.
Who calls first-person shooters 'shoot 'em ups'? It's the sort of mistake that your grandparents might make.
My favourite FPSs are Thief and Deus Ex, although they're more RPGs than anything else.
