I'm not 'whining' about anything dickhead! For the most part, the changes with C3C are cosmetic. A great number of the additions to C3C have been implemented in the mods that other players have already completed (including the submarine and hidden nationality land units that we played around with nearly a year ago). I'm looking for more substantive changes to the game than adding another wonder or unit. Re-working the combat system to at least allow for combat unit specialities is an important (minimum) change for me.

I agree, though I'll still get it. Locked alliances are what I was hoping for.

Oh lighten up! You must be pretty much impossible to be around if you get your girdle in a knot that easily. You might want to consider taking an anger management course or two if you're that bloody sensitive about some lame comment. If my intention was to insult you, I could do a much better job than that.

They don't want to pay the money and then not have the title there when the window they paid for is open.
|
Are you saying they (publishers) have to pay (rent) shellves space??
Never knew that...

I didn't know that either.
So far Conquests is looking great though I think I will be holding off until I hear what the people on the forum have to say.

Didn't know that either... sounds a little strange as the shops would be interested in selling the game as well...

shops want to sell all games. a lot of people go shopping without knowing exactly what to buy.
so if C3C is either at the entrance with a big "NEW" written on it or stuffed somewhere in the back between the other strategy games, most spontainious buyers will take it more likely

Yes, you might be right on that, but it's mor important for the Chrismas market than otherwise.

Don't think they have already cds and boxes ready, usually software houses are used to have everything ready 1 week before the product hit the shelves, and late October seems to me quite optimistic,I would bet within November.

Patches are the core success of nowdays games,if they are a lot, good, strong and flexible and if they all come within first 6 months after the release, the game will be a success for sure.

Gunter, I'll take that bet. I bet it will be released on October 28th just like all the distribution websites say it will.

Naming terrains:
NOT like SMAC but you can name terain and unique edit them like the Cedars of Lebanon screen shot.
(so you can kind of add terrains in a scenarion by making a terrain graphic a resource then place it, THEN rename and edit its values....I'm assuming)

I hope you are correct, but I have yet to see an offical gone gold annoucement. Actually, even an unoffical one. So typically, it is at least 2 weeks after the gone gold that the games ship. I know some publshers are faster than others, but many are slower.
The gold disk has to get to the people to press the copies and then they have to be boxed and shipped. No way are they goiong to pay extra to expedite this activity. Given that, we would need to see it announced this week.

Well... the first word we had that PTW was gold was on 10/24/2002 ( http://apolyton.net/forums/showthrea...threadid=65447), and people got the first copies on 10/30/2002. So... I guess we might not hear anything until early next week.

Here is what occurred just minutes ago at Gamestop. I ask if they knew about Conquet coming out and the free cd for preorders.
The needed me to give them the full title. They then said it is due out 11/5/03. I paid in full and asked about the freecd. They showed it to and said I could have it now. I got home and found the package actually had three CD's in it. Now I had to get my giirlfriend to drop off the extra two.
I have looked at ti and it has a few mods and some music and color mods. A strat guide for SP and MP and other items.

Yup, EB is now showing a ship date of 11/4, meaning it will be in stores on the 5th. So an additional week of waiting...

I found that strange as well. Apolyton is listed in the fan sites.
I guessed it was due to them getting the mod from that site, but I do not know where it originated from. I thought Alexman created it here?
