Top 25 Games From MobyGames.com
http://www.mobygames.com/stats/top_g...5ftime:5fbest/

I checked it out and I was surprised to see how many adventure games were on the list.

Out of the 25, 14 of them are adventure, the top 3 are Monkey Island, (MI1 my fav) and my other fav (SQ3) is at 12.

If this list is accurate (and I don't have a hard time believing it) why do game developers not make adventure games?

The numbers of votes is extremely small and is based more on "who could be bothered to vote for a game" more than how good or bad they actually thought it was. Note that NOLF2 in 14th place was only voted for by 16 people.

I think this list says far more about the type of people who visit mobygames than it does about the relative merits of the game themselves. To suggest that this is some kind of "all time 25 best games ever" is plainly absurd just from looking at what games are included.

There's no point in even arguing the selections since the whole system is flawed from the start.

And if some fansite or other (say, a Monkey Island one ) were to link to mobygames and say "hey dudes, vote in this!" then the results would be massively swung in their favour ... which it appears they have been.

Unfortunately FP is right.

Probably the MI series would be the only adventure game capable of making the top 25 if it was a fair vote with a decent sample size.
