Sent to CerberusIV.
The Byzantine Empire is still happily encased in its own little bubble with no contact with any other civs.

Bad news, gentlemen: I have serious hardware problems. I'm getting a BIOS POST error that halts boot-up procedure. It seems to indicate that something is wrong with processor. I refuse to pay $$$ to have someone else troubleshoot/fix. I will fix myself but it may not get done immediately (due to lack of experience & perhaps money).. Better find a replacement for me. Sorry for the inconvenience.

If bfg is out that means either finding a replacement or restart with an AI Cordovan. I don't feel I can advocate a restart (I normally would this early in a game) as I would have done the early turns differently with hindsight and that is not fair to SirOsis.

Let's give it a couple days. Maybe bfg can fix his comp and/or a replacement found.
Does the BIOS beep at you or can you see the boot screen?

5 beeps. From what I gather, the problem is either CPU or motherboard. Won't know until I swap out processor. Don't have $ for a new processor to try that until two weeks from now. Thanks for your concern. I was enjoying the game, but what can I do. The computer was given to me several years ago. I'm surprised it had lasted this long without any problems.

I am still interested in a Middle Ages PBEM. If this doesn't move in a day or two I will try starting a new one.

May be we should post a "Replacement needed" thread? Shouldn't be hard to replace bfg9000 in this early stage.

It seems to be quite difficult to get a PBEM going at the moment. Hopefully SirOsis's replacement thread will get a response.

lmtoops has decided to take bfg9000's place. I've directed him to this thread to get the file.
If bfg9000 would mail the password it would be appreciated.

I have the password and will play the game when I get home, today.
I'll have to read through this Thread to see what rules are in place. If I have any questions, I'll just post them in this thread. In any case, I'll play the turn tonight.

Oh, one other point concerning my email address. It begins with a lower case "L". Many times, it is confused with a captial "I". So if you email, use the l.......not the I, or i.

Ok a few questions,
1. On the tech tree, am I only limited to researching Islamic and general techs? For example, there is the Norse tree, is that off limits?
2. Are we restricted in our alliances? For example, Masuro is Islamic so is he my only partner?
3. Are there barbarians and/or huts?
4. Is there anything elso I should know? I have read throught the thread.

I just realized this is the 3rd PBEM game that I send to Masuro. Oh well, I have sent the save to Masuro.

1. You can research, whatever you want, but be aware, that researching the advances of other cultures will set you back in your own.
2. No.
3. Don't know.
4. You should load up the game in SP and play a couple of turns to get a feel. But be aware, that there are 18 civs in the game, while ours has only 8.

lmtoops -
As I understand it, it is very expensive to research the first tech in any of the optional paths (you get the first one for your own free) so means a big delay in researching anything else.
There are no huts but barb camps do appear. Remember that the barbs are warriors and Keshiks!
The idea is to win by either eliminating everyone else (mass regicide so kill all 3 of their kings) or victory points. VP's are for location (Jerusalem only), killing other civs units and capturing cities.
Edit: VP's for relics returned to Jerusalem as well. There are only 3 relics in the MP game. I have one, Sir Ralph has one and the English have the third one (or maybe not by now).

I'm getting the feel of it, now. I have not played the Medieval SP game, but that is something I will definitely do.
