Events question

Alright...this may be a little strange, but here goes. Does anyone know if when two players are online playing a multi-player scenario, that the have to be using the same events.txt file? The reason I ask this, is because I remember that each person has to have all the files on their computer for a MP scenario. Could this be possible?
