I purposefully didn't talk about Walker simply because he wasn't a good back when he was traded. He never lived up to the hype and how could Dallas pass up a dynasty making trade like the one they got from Minnesota.

More later
Don't know if Bettis was considered a star, but he was a 1000 yard rusher his first 2 seasons and then the Rams didn't use him as much in his third year before trading him to Pittsburgh. At the time, I remember wondering why the Rams traded away a good back.

Got the info on the Faulk trade, at least from one perspective just after it happened.

http://www.stlsports.com/articles/mh.4.99.3.faulk.html

Quote:
Conrad Brunner of the Indianapolis Star/News writes: "major trades rarely are a simple matter, and this one certainly was not. The Colts had a number of reasons for pulling the trigger on Thursday's deal, but the most compelling involved money. Faulk wanted a lot more than he was making, and the franchise was not in a position to make him happy".

"He demanded a trade, but made it clear to the Colts that he would not report to training camp without a new contract. This is now a problem for the Rams to address""

When asked about the trade, Colts owner Jim Irsay said: "We knew Marshall was not coming to camp, but a bigger factor was the money issue. The move had several key ingredients: We (the Colts) were already over the salary cap this year and we will be immensely over the cap next year. Plus Marshall will be going into his sixth season."

OK, OK, I know what your saying. These are all quotes from the Indianapolis area. Sour grapes, right? Jealousy. Envy They do not want to admit they made a mistake, right?

Well, ESPN's Chris Mortensen, a well known NFL insider made these remarks on the Faulk trade: "If you'd told me a week ago, I'd have been surprised by this deal. As soon as we all realized that (the Colts) were willing to move Faulk, we checked into it: that is about what (other NFL) teams felt about his value".

"There was not a good market for Marshall Faulk, which tells you the market doesn't trust him either."

"Knowing Bill Polian (Colts' President), I believe that he was absolutely convinced Marshall Faulk was going to miss training camp. And Bill's history with running backs who miss training camp is that they tend to get hurt and are not productive. I also don't think that the Colts staff was convinced that Faulk could duplicate last season".

Just like completing your 1040 Form, let's go straight to the bottom line

It is now painfully obvious that the Rams' mission is to sign Marshall Faulk. Bluntly, it MUST be done, period-and Marshall Faulk knows it.
To sum up, just a matter of Indy not being able to pay him money and not wanting a hold out when they could have James in the draft.

Time for another week.

But I still say Vick is getting too much press attention. I feel too much attention on one player detracts from the team.

Look at Terrell Owens.

You could say some things about Keyshon Johnson. He has always been a talker. But really I never heard too many complaints last year. He just wanted the ball more- most WR's do. Keyshon Johnson doesn't hog all the spotlight like TO does.

I won't say Vick hogs the spotlight. He has a better attitude than the wide recievers do. He really has no control over how much attention he gets. He doesn't get attention by saying outrageous things. He gets it by doing outrageous things on the field. And for that, I applaud that. I do like Vick. He is enjoyable to watch.

But even McNabb showed everyone. you don't win superbowls running with the ball as a QB. You win them passing. McNabbs best efforts at QB were with him passing.

I don't know if that last post made any sense. I'm very tired. I should go to sleep.

Some interesting matchups tomorrow. I can't decide on some games. Like Cincinatti. I'm not sure who will win that one. I'm still not sure about the Falcons and the Eagles either. The eagles seems like the obvious choice, yet I have a nagging feeling.

Broncos and patriots is an interesting game to try to pick. The game itself may be boring. The Broncos have a 3rd string QB. The patriots only put up 9 points last week. who the hell knows.

49r's Rams game might be intersting.

You have some traditional matchups this week with the Giants vs. the Jets (I'm still not sure how to pick this one). And the redskins vs. the Cowboys.

But the big matchup this week looks to be the Dolphins and the Colts.

The suck bowl this week seems to be the Chargers vs. the Bears.

haha, fake field goal attempt by New Orleans.

Tampa Bay was not fooled. They new the NO kicker could not kick that far in the first place.

Um... McNabb hasn't won a superbowl yet . And you can see when McNabb hasn't been able to run his game has suffered. He isn't that great a passer, but his passing game gets better if he is considered a threat to take off and run.

yeah I know he hasn't won one yet. But the closest he came, was when he passed the ball more.

And what the hell is wrong with the raiders? The lions are beating up on them.

I'd say the closest he came was then the defense was the best it was . McNabb isn't as good when he doesn't run a bit. If he stays in the pocket, he is exposed as the mediocre passer he is (like in the beginning of this year).

Btw, Chandler is having ANOTHER good game. Ming, may it be time to eat some crow. I kept telling you Chandler was an above average QB. He is showing that he's much better than Kordell (not hard, I know, but still) .

I wouldn't call it "great"... I did already make a comment that he has surprised me this year. However, if you look at his stats/rating, it's not all that good. It is a far cry improvement over what Stewart did.

He is serviceable at best

I always felt Chandler was decent for a pocket passer.

If the O-line can protect him he can get some passes up there.

Go Bears! Actually I should root for the Charger, but they- well- suck.

Why can't we stop McAllister? Why? Why?

And while I'm at it, why can't we sustain a ****ing drive without turning the ball over...

Because 'your' defense isn't as great as you like to make it out to be .

They CAN be run on, and teams are figuring that out.

at least you don't have Rick Mirer in at QB. Chicago fans really should stop complaining about their QB.

I really didn't think the Bucs would lose. I did pick the Saints because I knew the Bucs wouldn't cover the spread, but I didn't think they would lose.

Interesting stat.

Terell Owens has been thrown to 91 times this year. The most in the NFL.

Yet he still *****es about wanting the ball more.

And the main issue was money. Faulk wanted more than Indy could provide given their current salary cap situation. They needed to cut spending, not inrease it.

Besides, it worked out very well for the Colts.

For some strange reason, Tampa usually has trouble with beating the Saints. Lost to them twice last year.

what was that about offensive genious? I know the Rams have injuries. but they are way too inconsistant. They won last week with the same injuries. Yet are losing to a team that lost to Arizona.

The rams are too inconsistant. and still too cocky.

that's a mark of bad coaching if you ask me.

9 rushing yards for the rams.

Idiot I am!

I start Harris this week, but not last week when he gets 3 touchdowns.

Someone please shoot me now. I can't take this anymore!
