New poll shows Arnold ahead!
http://www.cnn.com/2003/ALLPOLITICS/...oll/index.html
A CNN/USA Today/Gallup poll of 787 registered voters shows recall would get 63% support and Arnold would win with 40%. Bustamante woud only get 25%.

Wohoo. McClintock should just give it up. He's doing this fool "Schwarzenegger isn't hard-core conservative enough" campaign, and California is not a state where you can get elected for being a hard-core conservative.
I like Schwarzenegger a lot. I'm not sure whether he'll be super-competent, but his stances on the vast majority of issues are the same as mine- unusual because I have a liberal stance on a number of issues that most conservatives are quite polar on.
I think it's funny how Davis keeps changing tack. He tries to villify the other candidates, says its part of a Republican conspiracy to steal elections that started in 2000 in Florada, makes a big show of challenging Schwarzenegger even though they aren't going to be directly against each other, just to try to show that he's a "real politician" and Schwarzenegger isn't, and he threat.
I'd be normally opposed to the idea of a recall, but Davis was only elected by lying about how bad the state was doing, and if he had been truthful, he wouldn't have been elected. Considering that more people want Arnold than want to keep him, I definitely say this is OK.

McClintock probably is the better conservative republican. He would probably make a better governor. But he lacks the charisma.
And most polls have shown Arnold ahead or just even with Bustamante all along. I knew he would pull ahead anyways.
I support Arnold for governor. But he's inheriting a pretty huge problem. I don't think he will be that effective as governor. He will learn dealing with polititicians is worse than dealing with producers.
I kind of hope Bustamante wins.

I doubt the accuracy of this poll, All the other polls I've seen on TV show Bustamonte ahead and recalling Davis about 50/50. You just picked the poll that favors your side the most, Diplo.
NO on the recall, YES for Bustamonte!

Arnold is a friggin' idiot. I was initially willing to give him the benefit of the doubt, but after hearing him say things like "they are the twin terminators of Sacramento", "I will no longer be the terminator, I will be the collectonator", and "I just realized I think I have a part for you in Terminator 4" I seriously think he's retarded. How can anyone vote for someone that would rather make stupid movie references than actually talk about his plans or his agenda or what he'll do to fix things.
Arnold

I'd rather see Bustamante as governor of California. That way, when he fails to fix the problems in California, anger in that state could be generalized from Gray Davis to the Democrats, helping the GOP in the 2004 elections.

Which one was that?
I know he saved Mars, tried to kill Sarah Connor, saved John Connor twice, foiled a kindergarten kidnapping plot, killed an evil sorceress (and an wizard for that matter), got cloned but then foiled the evil plot, saved Miami from terrorists with Jamie Lee Curtis, saved Vanessa Williams with a gun that shoots through walls, but I don't remember him killing an alien.

That was Predator
I like the idea of Arnold, but I dunno if he'd make a good governor. I listened to the debate a bit on the radio, and he didn't seem that on top of things. Too hostile and unclear.
I actually like Tom and that Green guy.

And yet you also supported the ACLU's lawsuit holding back the election because the new voting machines hadn't been installed yet... I don't think you can have it both ways.

What I can't figure out is this. Most polls show about 42% voting No on the recall, and about 28% voting for Bustamente. (Exact numbers vary, but these are ballpark.) How can that be? Why would anyone voting No on the recall pick anyone but Bustamente? Maybe a handful for Camejo (Green), but nowhere near 14%.

Perhaps you are the friggin' idiot. Taking things completely out of context. Ariana Huffingmuffin said something about Arnold's treatment of women, unrelated to the debate, and Arnold was allowed to respond. So he said he would kill her in his next movie. It's not dumb, or at least it's not any dumber than what Ariana Schmarimana had to say. Get your facts straight.
And Jaguar Warrior, McClintock has every reason to declare his righteous views no matter where he is. Harlem or California, liberal swamphole or liberal swamphole - he's got the gusto a governor needs. Of course, he will never win, and therefore we should support Swarzenegger as well. The liberals can have it both ways, why can't we.

Those other polls were taken prior to the debate. The vast majority of California voters watched that debate. No one defended Davis, not even Bustamante. I also suspect they did not appreciated the mean-spirited attacks on Arnie by Huffington.
Regardless, Arnie got a big boost from the debate. Davis was the real loser. That is why he is now desparately calling for debates with Arnie.

For your sake, I'll pray that post was a joke. You think calling himself the 'collectanator' on Larry King live makes him a good candidate? I didn't take anything out of context. He makes a cheesy terminator reference every time he speaks. I was making the point that Arnold would much rather point out that he's a big movie star than actually talk about issues. He's running a campaign based almost entirely on name recognition alone. I fail to see how he's better than Gary Coleman. At least Gary will tell you his campaign is a joke.

He has never said he is a collectanator. You were hallucinating or something. Give me proof, from FOX or something, if you really know what you're talking about. Even if he did say that, though, it's no dumber than Davis making fun of his accent, or Ariana Huffingstuffin claiming that California owes its debt to the Bush administration.
You think Swarzenegger is a joke? I will tell you who is a joke, Gray Davis and his henchman Bustamante. They are addicted to spending, addicted to statewide poverty and blackouts. Davis gives drivers licenses to whoever can vote for him. HE IS A CRIMINAL. And now they want you to vote against Arnold? Someone who knows how to handle the big bucks but isn't politically corrupt? COME ON.

I have not said anything about any of the other candidates, only Arnold. Lemme see if I can find a clip of when Arnold said Collectinator. It was on Larry King Live IIRC, but they also showed it several times on the Daily Show because it was funny.
I'll go search for it now so you can see for yourself. I'll post it if I find it.

I love Arnold's idea about taxing the Indian Casinos which seem to be popping up every where. Other states get great profit sharing deals with the Casinos because their governments are tough negotiators while in California the Indians give huge donations to people like Davis and Bustamonte so the government agrees not to tax them.
The reservations maybe off limits to the state government but if the Indians want their slot machines, hotel supplies, and what not to get to the reservation then it has to travel through California. Not to mention they're still subject to state Enviromental reviews and they need out side water and power so if they want to keep their casinos open they're going to have to play ball with the state tax collector.

How can anyone think Arnie's a joke when Warren ****ing Buffet is his financial advisor? ****, Arnold could sit on the beach for the whole term and you'd still have the best financial mind in the world trying to fix California's economy.

I'm hoping theat Arnie wins and McClintock gets put in charge of drafting the new budget. McClintock already has a budget 100% drafted which doesn't increase taxes or fees, doesn't cut education, and balances the budget. Instead he opens the state contracting office to competitive bidding by all companies (instead of just unionized companies), cuts areas where the state's bureacracy duplicates what the Federal or local bureacracies already do, caps overhead spending so that education money goes to students instead of layer after layer of middle management, and he freezes the wages of all state employees.

I was watching a news talk show this weekend. The "conventional wisdom" traveling the circles in Washington was that Arnie shot himself in the foot by engaging in verbal battles with the shrill Huffington. They all expected Arnie to take a big hit in the polls.
We, they were completely wrong.
Now, the question is, why were they so far off the mark?
