Well, if you're all still using warriors I will have some fun when my Sipahi arrive.

Sorry, guys, this is one very thoug turn for me. I have to spend some more time but maybe this will happen tomorrow. I'll delay a little bit the game.
Once again - sorry.
P.S. It seems I'm still living 700 BC in this game

Who said anything about Sipahi? That's Phase 2!
Seriously, I've been planning this for a long time, ever since I got the Great Library, and it's just a relief to have my units ashore with a good chance they will take their objectives.

Sipahi? I thought in this game all UUs were barbarians?! By the way... anyone of you saw the barbarian berserks?
710 AD to ADG. Interesting turn again.

If that is so, I missed it. I was under the assumption we got our own UU's. Not really a problem as I have had my GA anyway and normal cavalry will serve my purposes.

As far as I remember, all UUs are off. I haven't been able to build Gallic Swordsmen either and had to build ordinary Swordsmen instead.

I thought I had read all the posts form the original game setup thread and I don't ever remeber reading that the UU's were going to be left out of the game.
The fact that UU's are out changes the game a lot. You have to use Wonders to get your GA and most other players are not about to cut you a break so that you can do that.

What I forgot to mention is, that Smith the Talking Horse settled in the city of Yew and founded a Trading Company there. And in case you think I'm fantasizing and don't know who Smith the Talking Horse is, go play Ultima!

I'm just freeing you from the need to research all these useless, optional techs, such as Music Theory (I have Bachs), Economy (I have Smiths) and Navigation (I have Magellans). Although for the latter there may be some limited use in this game.

I haven't seen the ability to built my UU, but as far as I remember it wasn't left out... I don't remember having agreed on this

Initially it was planned, that every player can build all UUs. The decision to switch UUs off goes back to a post by alexman (who had set the game up). Here's a link.

Well, that wasn't how I thought it was set up but obviously we are stuck with it. I think I had realised that UU's would not trigger a GA but not that we didn't get them.
Given that the window for the UU's of 3 civs is pretty much over anyway, and that I can live without mine, how much of a problem is this really?
Being limited to knights rather than samurai is a bit of a handicap for Ormuzd right now. Ghengis is limited to tanks rather than panzers on a map intended for naval and air war. A reduction certainly but crippling?
Now if the Britannians would just stop building all the wonders before anyone else even has the techs....

I chose Germany with the UU in mind. Its kinda of sad that if you miss one single post in this thread the rules get completely altered in a particular aspect. Oh well, its not the first time in this particular PBEM that I have had to alter my gameplay.

I personally don't mind not to have the UUs. Ancient UUs would be a screw-up in this game, and being able to build all UUs would break the upgrade chains. And I for my part could do well even without a GA. I'm practically in a permanent GA since I switched to Republic, and that's almost 100 turns now. A game without any corruption was a pretty braindead idea, although it's for sure a nice experiment.
What concerns wonders, Cerb... Would you like it more if I built units instead of wonders? Besides, there are some really neat Wonders in the hands of you guys. Pyramids, Great Library, Sun Tzu's, Sistine, Leo's, anyone?
