Preference problems
I think this is the correct forum. I am having 2 difficulties with forum:
1- understanding style preferences
2- viewing forum pages
Details in order:
#1-- style preferences.
There seem to be at least the following styles:
default
default special
default ultra special
light
light special
light ultra special
plus all 6 of the above with -civ3 appended.
What is the expected result of choosing each of these options in terms of background/foreground colors, etc.
#2-- display missing
Display problems may be because of color change. Using default, I expected gray background, instead getting light-medium blue.
Not visible:
open/closed icon
smilies in smilie column
new thread box
I'm guessing problem #2 is happening because of something in #1.
Any suggestions would be appreciated.
Oh, using mozilla.

Thanks, forget problem #2.
{Problem #2 is related to colors used on system. Basically I am already grabbing all the colors available.}
Still looking for someone to give an answer or a link to what the style choices are supposed to control.

Civ3/Ctp2/Default/MoO3/SMAC are all the colours of the forums. Default means banner ads on top and below, plus pop-ups. Default Special means more banner ads, less pop-ups. Default Ultra-Special gives more pop-ups, no banners. Light means a lot of the small icons, and small features (eg last post by) are replaced by text or simply removed. LS & LUS are the same as DS & DUS, except with Light settings.
Civ3 gives a lightblue/black BG
MoO3 gives a navy BG
Default gives a grey BG
ctP gives a gold BG
SMAC gives a red/black BG (not recommended )

The images are probably related to you running images from your cache. I'm sure a Mozzist will be able to aid you in that department. You are getting the Civ3 style because you changed to it from Default.

I represent that. I use the SMAC theme and I like it.
And the the background is black/gray-black not red/black.

thanks
Frozzy,
thanks for the explanations. Actually I am still on default right now, but I think I will change it.
I like a lighter background so I can print with avatars without using a lot of toner/printer ink. This is helpful for long, long threads to see what one user is saying.
Problem #2 has been verified as a local system problem and not worth discussing on the forums.

You can go to the main forums page at:
http://www.apolyton.net/forums/
In the upper left corner, it shows what style you are using and how many others are using it.
By simply using the pull down menu provided, you can sample all the different styles and see which one you like best.

Wasn't there somebody who mistakenly thought that pulldown menu changed the style specified by their profile?

I remember someone complaining about their style resetting itself.

I believe we are both thinking of Asmodean.
Too bad for him that I have such a good memory.

And in case the above posts weren't clear, to permanently change what style you use, you need to use the control panel. To change your style for just this session, the drop-down menu that Ming mentioned is used.
