MY "Secret Project"
Can anyone guess what it is? It's almost done, which is good because I have my Warsaw Pact scenario to get back too.

It looks like Alaska. Is it something like a Soviet invasion?

I would have said Turkey (Hittes? WOW!!) except there is no Golden Horn and I have no name for island to the north.
Working hypothesis: Bretagne. But the map just doesen't seemm right.
Where back to Alaska?

It looks like something in the Baltic area. Estonia or district Leningrad (capital is St. Petersburg).
On the other hand, it does bear remarkable similarities to Alaska.

Give us one more clue: is up also north, and down south??
If that would be so, I wouldn't have a clue. I wouldn't guess Alaska, but might be some minor thing, not a big landmass anyway.
If for example down is north, I think it must be the Krim, and I think the eastern part of it, with the city of Kertch.
This last I am pretty sure of, actually it MUST be so (again; if up is south). The land-tongue to at the bottom of the map is what makes me so sure. And in the right upper corner is the city of Feodosia.
So.. that leaves two possible scenarios: a Krimean War scenario (which is a very interesting idea), or a ww2 scenario.
so... am I right?

I will have another (very long) shot: Thule peninsula in Greenland?
Something about Vikings?

Ahh...a guessing game!
Assuming it is a real world map and than it is depicting a very small region also considering the relative large areas of the same terrain typ. There don't seem to be any rivers either so it must be a small area.
Thinking of the above I would say it is not a real world map but rather a map of a fantasy or fictional game. Something by Tolkin perhaps?

yes, the terrain is badly mixed. Usually a sign of a bad scenario (hint hint, there's still time to improve it). But that doesn't yet mean it's a fantasy scen.
No, I still think it's the tiny part of the Krimean peninsula. Look at the map, and you'll see.

Okay, actually it is a map from a fantasy computer wargame that has been played by hundreds of thousands of people. And it is copied from a map given by the maker of the game, so don't give me lip about that.
And there are rivers, but you can't see them at that zoom level, and resized as it is. Actually the map is of a very large area.
If it will help any, the city in the West is designated to The Light, that in the north is Bre Unor, and the one in the mountains there is labelled The Dark.
If none of you don't know this by now, Come On! It was Strategy Game of the Year

Fantasy!? No fair...
Either HOM&M or WarCraft. Although I doubt it's WarCraft.

It's not from Age of Wonders, Warlords I-III, HoMM (I don't think the strategy branch of the HoMM empire has maps, but that's probably because I have had little contact with the manuals. Ahem.), Master of Magic (I think that one relied on random maps), Seven Kingdoms II, or WarCraft II: ToD/BtDP.
I could be from Seven Kingdoms I, Tzar, WarCraft I, or some oldie; nonetheless, I am guessing that it's from an RPG such as Wizardry, Ultima, or Everquest.

The terrain mix doesn't look very good, but then again, for a scenario, it doesn't have to.
As a cartographer and a geographer, I should know things like this without looking. Remember, north can be in any direction, typically to the top or the top corners depending on how the creator tries to fit in the awkward diamonds.
My guess would the northwestern peninsula off of France (the one with Brest at the end). I'm sure it has a name but I don't know what it is.

I agree with allard it does look like the Crimean peninsular (sp?), it couldn't be the Brest region because of the small piece of land sticking out to the south
I could be wrong (and probably am )
but thats my 2 cents

I agree the terrain mix is not like Alaska, but I've checked all the real locations mentioned here and they don't seem too likely either. The peninsula in the south eliminates most of them (this is what happens when you spend too much time with an atlas).
Who put that message above me in while I was typing this.

None of those was right. I haven't even heard of most of them. But this is a real-time wargame. No resource managing, just killing people(and various other creatures, and the walking dead). But magic is involved.
The map wasn't exactly integral to this game, but it was showed during the immersive level introductions.

So it's not real and it's from one of those stooopid RT games, eh? In that case, I couldn't care less.

That's it I'm telling you. Have any of you heard of Myth?
Specifically, this scenario is of the sequel- Myth 2: Soulblighter. Why? Because the story in the first was far to sketchy to put one together, and I found the units to Myth 2 in a game guide.
In the scenario you will play as the Light, the united peoples of the Province, and you'll try to fight off once again the hordes of the animated dead raised by the fould warlord Soulblighter. I might make the units better later.

Yeah it's tactical, not strategic.
A playtest version may not be ready for a while. Right now i am working on the cumbersome task of doing the events. A lot of events are necessary, because the Dark starts out with only a few cities (but a HUGE army, which is rapidly diminished). Like the game, you will go on quests to find magical artifacts. To go on a quest you have to research it- but don't worry, the Light has a fantastic tech rate considering all they have is libraries.
I'm going to delete the image below from my page now.
