Maps
I'm testing a civ2 map making system that creates custom maps of any region of Europe and of any size (up to the normal size limit).
If you need a map I'll create one for you for free in less then 48 hours. Just post an image that shows the area you want the map to be of and your approximate map dimensions and I'll make it.

Using the above gif and MapUtil, I have created two maps you can easily modify into whatever you want (ocean/grassland/hills/mountains only now). William Keenan's thing is probably better, but...

Thanks a lot, St Leo. BTW, i'll put a link for your "Roman Riot" scenario on my download section. Have your permission?
I'm just waiting for Frontpage 2000 in order to start building it...
Ah, i forgot about it: MADQC is searching for a roman paved road, so i put "RR" url in his thread.
It's on Civ2-Creation, "2 questions" thread... just check it, he's a "freshman".

I've read your post. Thanks, Will.
BTW i've got a crazy idea... i'll try to make a map from St Leo image, then i'm going to send you this map, in order to compare between then. I think maybe this is useful if you are testing a new prog...
Tell me if you want me to do that.

Prometeus, to get the Bmp2Map program to work properly the source map has to be converted into a 16 color bitmap where each color represents a different terrain type. The map that I am working from was specially formatted by Harlan for this task. To get the same results from another map, even a good quallity map like the one above, would take weeks of work.
Here is a reduced image of the map that Harlan made.
If your are eager to experiment Prometeus, I suggest you download the full map and read Harlan's explaination of how to use it beforehand. It can be found on the Cradle of Civilization in the BMP2MAP section.

Does it have to be Europe?
Not with my method, but terrain features not related to elevation have to be placed manually. What region do you need?

Eep. How do I change it around? It's a map of Nicaragua & border states.
. . . time passes . . .
OK it's a .gif now. I just want the land mass, I'm not interested in terrain as yet.

1. Do you mind adding the lakes manually?
2. I am not playing anything made with the larger map.

I need a map for the Carribean region if possible. Things I need included:
1) East Coast of the US to the Mississippi.
2) The entire Carribbean region.
3) Eastern coast of Mexico to the Yacatan Penisula.
4) From the Yacitan down to all of South America--should have both Pacific and Atlantic coasts with access to both at the South Pole.
Please e-mail me at Mauddib@intergrafix.net
