For the next election we should use a much stricter system. I propose that instead of a poll, that in the next elections we will pm our votes to a neutral who will count them up and cross-reference the voters with the people on our members list. That will help stop people from trying to rig the elections.

And who would the neutral be? I take back what I said earlier about keeping the vote secret. We post the votes in the open, simplest way.
Also, someone please close the poll.
Here are the findings:
Centre: 5 votes.
Harmony: 4 votes.
One Israel: 10 votes - 2 (Panag/Sabra) = 8 votes. Some are suspiscious, it would be good to track these down.
Nevertheless, the breakdown seems to me to be.
One Israel: 2 seats.
Centre: 2 seats.
Harmony: 1 seat.

If you wish, I don't care strongly one way or another, I just wanted the poll closed. We will never poll vote again.
One Israel and Centre are currently in the process of negotiating a coalition.

One Israel: 2 seats.
Centre: 2 seats.
Harmony: 1 seat.
|
We have 4 votes and only get one seat?
8,5,4 = 17
4/17 approx 4/16 = 1/4
1/4, 1/4, 1/2 is the best proportion.
Therefore we ought to give One Israel 2 seats, Centre 1 seat and the Harmony party 1 seat.

The election math was already decided in the Basic Rules, you can go there and see the mathematical formula. It was specifically approved before the election started so that we would not argue over what is most "fair" in distribution.

Then what about 3-1-1?
And I don't see where the rules thread says that the party that won the election ought to get the same number of seats as the party that finished second.

Because One Israel did not get near 3/5th's of the vote, so there is no reason we should get three seats.
The math is in the Basic Rules.

But neither did the Centre party get close to 2/5s of the vote.
5/17 - 1/4 less than 25 %

I quote the rules
Quote:
|
from the Basic Laws thread
First of all, only entire seats are given to the parties: A will get 2 seat, B and C one seat. After that, the excess seat is given to B, because B got more votes than C. If there will be more than one free seat, the first will go for B, the next for C, etc. and so on.
|
The excess seat is given to B, or Centre, since they got more votes.

Thanks.
Want to join the party?
Edit: I just realized voting ended. Your vote doesn't count, polls closed yesterday. Can someone please close the poll!
Nevertheless, the sentiment is appreciated.

You can't vote, the poll was closed some days ago... I'm allowing this thread to remain open because I don't want to silent Kenobi closing a thread where he was speaking...

Well that makes me mad. Over a month ago you guys said that this DG game was dead. You couldn't even get your own forum, so I quit paying attention. Now, you guys went and started without me.
Dang it.

Current Knesset Membership
For the first six months in game time, I believe this is the Knesset based on the memberlists in the Party Threads of our three parties:
PinkyGen
conmcb25
EmuGod
Stalin II
Ben Kenobi
Someone correct me if Im wrong. We probably should have posted this at the end of the last election thread but did not for whatever reason.
Im posting this now because I think we may need a knesset vote on the spy issue.
Mods if you get a chance please merge this with the closed Knesset Election Thread "Topped" at the beginning of the forum.
Thanks
