Good News for England
Owen out
The choice of national squads tends to be way too conservative in my opinion, sticking with "tried and tested" players rather than giving someone a chance. That's why I applauded Erikson's choice of playing Rooney.
Now all we need now is that lump Heskey to get crocked.
Beattie and Rooney!

I think you'll reconsider this after the Turks send the English side home early.

Oh for ****'s sake.
I've always said that Rooney is badly over-rated and I'll keep saying it until he does something, anything, to prove me wrong. He flew of the handle in an aburdly childish way against Spurs last week, if that's the kind of immature temperament he has then the turks will eat him alive in Istanbul. He's all potential and media hype, with very little actual delivery. He's still a kid and will hopefully be a world-class player in 5 or 6 years. To try and pretend that he's even close to that now is a joke.
Beattie is a good club player, but hasn't made the step to the international game yet. He deserves a few more chances, but I'm not sure if this is the best game for it. However, if Owen is injured then we have very little choice.
Heskey is just rubbish.
I see no reason other than your anti-Liverpool bias to suggest that Owen's injury is a good thing for England.

If we are playing the same front two from a side, then that side should be really banging in the goals. Are Liverpool?

I'd actually like to see Alan Smith, Rooney and Beattie up top. A good fiery forward line is what we need in Turkey.

I edited in my apology.
I'm really bored and sad to say it's fun arguing with Pikey Parkey when he's being really retarded.

Vassell and Rooney up front would be interesting. I think I've seen 2 England matches with Beattie in and I wasn't impressed either time. He gave away too much and didn't really create anything. Owen may be tried ans tested, but he's also a good striker. He scores a lot and he scores consistantly. He's saved England enough times to be an automatic choice IMHO.

7 goals in 8 games for Liverpool already this season, 5 goals in the last 7 internationals. Much higher ratio than his average which is about 1/2 per international.

He was born in Chester you asshat. If you have any shocking revelations to the contrary, with a reliable source, you're welcome to share them. You might also want to inform Liverpool football club: http://www.liverpoolfc.tv/team/squad/owen/

Only when he plays for England. When he plays for Liverpool he's "that little ****ing shitbag who keeps scoring against [your team]".

Chester (same as me!) is correct. The Countess of Chester Hospital to be exact.
And why would you play Smith, Rooney AND Beattie (not to mention Scholes pushing on) when we only needed a draw to qualify? Very tactically niave as Big Ron might say.
Heskey did a cracking job on Saturday (admitidly its about time)

I loved it when only 20 min. after the game, the punters were saying:
"Ooh and see England going all the way in Portugal"
Yeah right
I'm not against England (I'll probably end up supoting them during the finals), but face it, you're just not good enough IMO.
Besides you're track record isn't all that great either, is it now.

I agree. The people who say we stand a realistic chance of winning the whole tournament are crazy. Frankly, we'd do well to get out of our group considering how strong the competition is. It's possible we'll win, anything's possible - Denmark won in '92 after all - but it isn't likely.
