So much for an attempted boycott to dry up demand.

apparently Hasbro, owner of Parker Brothers, publishers of Monopoly, is suing the producers of Ghettopoly for trademark violations. Apparenly in addition to publishing a vile, racist game, they also neglected to get permission from Hasbro before ripping off their classic. Why am I not surprised?

Well, I don't know about localization in England, but the Russian version of monopoly I have does, indeed, have Moscow street names in it.

Monopoly has been transported to many many countries using their own cities.

well yeah, even here in the US we have all kinds of special versions of Monopoly, from city variants, to University variants to the dreaded "pokemonopoly"
So if its say a london version, i got no problem with pass go collect 200 Sterling - or even pass go collect 200 euros - I was thinking that like here, you have a standard version that keeps the original Atlantic City names, but that the currency is localized. Now THAT would be a travesty i think.

Well, thanks for contributing to this thread... Don't exactly see how you could have started a thread about this a month ago since I started this thread the day the story broke two weeks ago..... I'm sure your thread was very interesting, though. Please make all of your future posts on this topic there, Imran... thanks..
