The lion is the national symbol of Finland. Even the hockey team wears it. Not on a green beret along with a bayonet, though.

Actually some do wear lion in their berets.. I did for example. Some wear different insignias. Also the colour of beret changes depending what their job is.

Siro, No. Though I think that information is not classified, I'm not 100% sure .

Maybe your military has a site where I can read that?
I got that information on the US and UK forces from their website.

I'm going for the easy way - asking you.
What's the point of being smart if you go for the hard ways ?

Even if there is a web site, I doubt that you understand enough Finnish to read it.

yeah, but I edited it first. I only said that I remember the thread where you Israeli fellows said where you are about to apply or applied, and I also remember where you applied, and I also remember what you said about what the job is like, and it matches, so I guess congrats. Then I decided to edit it. I don't know, maybe I'll edit this one too!

I don't remember saying what the job is like specifically. I think my first post gives more hints (if you read it through ).
Thanks for the congrats.
I didn't apply myself - I was summoned for tests together with many people, including Eli who eventually didn't proceed.
Btw, the funny thing is that I also got accepted to my second choise for pre-army academic studies which I am now going to decline.
I could go get a B.Sc. in Information Systems Engineering which is a mix of computers and ... databases and information systems I guess. It sounded fun to me.
My first choise (though i didn't like it more, it just is more elite) was a B.Sc. in software engineering.

Goodbye Siro. I will miss the logic and passion you bring to the debates. From what I have read from you (including the pre-edited Apolyton History entry) I can tell that you are a person that will successfully follow your convictions. I admire you and what you are about to do for your country. I will miss your presence.
Come to 'Poly when you can...we will be here...we will not forget...and it will always be home.

And I already sense little sadness from you, kind of nostalgic type. And you're working with them computers anyway, so I think it's not very realistic to say you won't post here in 4 years.. . First you are unable to, then you kind of get used to it and then you forget about it for a while, but every now and then something triggers you to remember something or someone from this forum, and one of those days.. *BAM* you're back here, addicted like you used to .

Good luck with everything.
And just because you'll be gone doesn't mean you can't contribute. If you've been pondering a new idea or have any thought-provoking thoughts be sure and post them, even if you won't be able to actively post on the thread.

Thanks plato I miss your logic too
Pekka- sure I'm sad. this has been a fun place.
Those computers aren't plugged to the net. I'll hardly have time to post. And when I will - I won't be able to say anything about Israel since I might run the risk of saying too much.
That's why I decided to quit.
Admittedly I'll slip once in a while. But not like this.

I agree with you on what you said about Apolyton though. Apolyton has changed my life too. It opened my eyes to different perspectives. All I had ever heard were the theories, opinions, and point of views from idiot conservatives and I knew nothing of politics (I still know nothing, but a whole lot more then before). Then I came to Apolyton, and at first I was shocked at leftist opinions but it really opened my eyes and made me question things, and now I am a leftist myself and I am into politics. If it weren't for Apolyton I'd be an idiot conservative who believed in ridiculous ideas and didn't question them. Long live Apolyton.

Heard it before. But good luck with it anyway .

But until we meet, good luck, strength and positive thoughts.

john - thanks for me the process was a bit different. I began leaning more and more to the right seeing the conflict between leftist views and actual reality.
But still, it did open my eyes to a whole lot of opinions I never thought existed and taught me a thing or two about history and media and public relations.
Pekka - that's my point. I'm not claiming I won't return for more sometimes. Generally I'm able to live without Apolyton. I mean, during this year I had times where I posted once every two weeks or less. So I can live with only very small rations.
But the next 4 year period will be tough on schedule and other bussinesses. Plus I won't be able to debate my favourite topic which is the ME.
