I think you are seeing the ice particle react to something that hit it, even if is not visible as a jet. There is a flash at the very moment the ice particle takes off.

Good point, Ned. Also look at the stars in the background. Does the Shuttle circle the earth that fast?

Shuttles average 17,600 mph. I'm not a physics guru so I can't tell you if the star patterns match that velocity.
