My 'not so secret' project.
This is a preview of my upcoming ToT scenario "Blood and Iron". It's an historical scenario covering the period of the unification of Germany and Italy. It starts at the time of the Schleiswig-Holstein War (1864) and ends after the Franco-Prussian War (1870-71). It will have new art, including a complete set of new units, city display and portraits of the kings. Tot's enhanced events will be used to create a detailed and realistic diplomatic game. A successful diplomatic stategy will be required before a war can be successfully fought and Won. Music is from Richard Wagner's "Ring of the Nibelung" operas. I hope to have it out before the end of the year. If anyone has any suggestions or comments, they're welcome.

Yay! I like those pictures, especially those people (nice touch with Marx as the really unhappy guy). When will it be out?

EDIT: Oh yeah. Let it be formally known that I am now the first person to ask to playtest.

I am anxious to check this out, but I wonder how you simulate the unification of the German states?

This looks absolutely superb. It is good to see scenarios being developed for ToT, especially of this quality. I look forward to playing it, keep it up!

Tecumseh is unable to post, so he mailed me this and asked me to post it

You're on Squid. BTW, there are several other famous faces among the
"people". Can you identify them?

Eternal, you've put your finger on the main design problem of this
scenario. After Austria's defeat in the Austro-Prussian War of 1866,
Prussia had almost total control of the foreign and military affairs of
the smaller German states, but they remained separate countries, each
with their own government and army.

I'm thinking of using the multi-player feature. So, if Prussia achieves
certain objectives (like the defeat of Austria), the human player will
be prompted to save the game, then re-enter it in multiplayer hot-seat
mode. He then plays Prussia plus Bavaria and/or Saxony. This would give
him the strength to take on France and win the game. What do people
think of a multi-player approach for a single human player?

I thought about a bismark scenario, and the way I would have captured the cities was by using the events files to systematically create diplomats and give the player the money to subvert the city. The player would have to be tod what to do, and it's far from idiot proof, but it was the best way I could find.

In the hopes that this post will actually go through, does anyone have a wav. file of someone yelling "Fire!" in German? Three guesses as to what it's for.
