I enjoy anime very much. It is a modern form of the past's tales. They are repetitive, they have always the same mechanisms, but once you get accustomed to them, they are damned good when they are properly exploited.
Besides, a few animes can really make something new, something interesting. The specific format of the anime (26 episodes = 520 minutes of broadcast over a semester) allows the storytellers to have the spectators begin to like the characters and to wonder about them (about what will be reveled later). Cowboy Bebop, for example, does it successfully.
Now, some animes are really lame. Those featuring easy chicks getting seduced by a clumsy lamer are nothing more than material to relief the Otaku. Such anime should only be watched by Otakus (young people devoted to anime and unable to have a social or sexual life) and nobody else

What makes you say that? Never dated a Japanese girl before. Made the mistake of dating a Chinese girl once, but that's another story all together.

my, my gf has a psychotic korean friend. since they don't go to school in chicago, the friend was purchasing shoes...except for her father. so in the middle of the street, having run into me by pure chance, she asked me to take off my shoes so she could see if the shoes she bought would fit her dad.
so imagine me, in the middle of the sidewalk on michican avenue, just south of the magnificent mile, having to take off one of my shoes so she could look at the tongue to see what size it is.

I got two words for non-anime fans: The Animatrix.
If you saw it and didn't like it, well, you're right - you don't like anime or anime-style art.
Personally, I thought that was the best thing the Matrix story had to offer (and it's all very good).
Don't date Chinese girls - they're more f'd up in the head than their worth. Especially if they're middle children.

i dont mind eastern arts in general but I am getting annoyed by the eastern art craze. Most of the things ppl admire are crap anyways.

1. Isnt matrix the movie itself very anime-ish? Basically when I first heard about the movie, my friend described it as "Real life Dragonball... with guns".
2. Screw you. The person Im seeing right now is chinese. and middle children. But you're right. shes a bit loco

Heh. What, you don't like chop-saki films? ^_^ Not that I blame you much, but that is just a single genre. I've been quite enjoying some of Japan's samurai movies (Akira Kurosawa, of course) and the shomingeki genre, although Ozu moves are hard to come by in the states.

Yes, it is. They borrow quite a bit from Ghost in the Shell, at least.

Agreed. I always thought I would hate anime...but Animatrix was actually very very good. But then, I am obsessed with The Marix in general, so perhaps I have always been a closet lover of anime type stuff

Some of it reminded me of Aeon Flux - not just Peter Chung's stuff, but the Last Flight of the Osiris. Good animation all around.

I hated Last Flight of the Osiris. It kept giving me "Final Fantasy: The Spirits Within" flashbacks. The others were quite good.

Never saw it. I got a thing about movies based on video games. Watch the old Aeon Flux - maybe you'll change your mind.
