If we each sent one individually to Steve's family, I think that would make a big impression on them.

That would be a nice idea. But that would mean we'd have to make his address public (assuming we can figure out what it is in the first place). I'm not sure if we want to do that...

If you can figure it out, maybe have everyone that wants it ask for it in a PM.

Won't giving out his address expose the family to the whims of some heartless bastard sending a hate letter?

Yes. Sometimes you can send letters care of the funeral home, sometime they have a special place to send condolences. Even if some bastard would do that, I think it would be overwhelmed by all the other cards from all over the world.

Indeed, as much as I like the idea and trust the people of Apolyton that I know, there may well be some sicko in our midst that might abuse his address. One card sent by someone we can trust seems like the best idea. Perhaps put the names on it of everyone who wants to 'sign' it?

Steve will be missed Loosing someone to the randomness of a car accident shocks the system. This is why it is important not to leave things unsaid to people. Don't make that mistake.

How about a thread with the list of peoples names that can be printed out and attached to said card.

Edit by MtG - no need to name names speculatively on who you might think would stoop that low.
edit by cg: Sorry.

I have also started a petition thread in the A/C forum, requesting that SG(2) and faded glory be inducted without vote.
Please go sign it.

I found one of Faded's recent posts that read:
"Where have all my posts in this thread gone?"
I wonder what they were.

Half the time he was joking around, pulling our chains. Make you look for a forum glitch, or wonder if anyone had actually zapped his posts (which is much more of a pain than just nuking the whole thread).
He had at least a dozen DL's, too, that he posted under (if they lasted that long)

My jaw just recently came back up, and I've read every post in this thread.
I can't say I liked the guy's views, but it is so sad to have someone you know lost so young, and for such a stupid reason.
But one thing about this thread really gave me a thought. There is not much that would make me happier in my life than knowing that so many people from around the world would be sending letters to my family/funeral. If I were to go tomorrow, I'd hope that my friends from the message boards I frequent would do the same :tear: I'd definitely support doing that for Faded Glory, ally in debate or not.
Rest in Peace Faded Glory. You will be missed.

Here I thought I could just come and lurk the OT in the little spare time I have...
Damn. These are bad news.
Faded was a person of many faces, not to mention his forementioned DLs.
But most of the time he was a funny, amusing and very social kind of a guy. Right now some moments are distantly flashing in my memories.
I am very sorry for this loss and I am very sad about the silly ways in which some people can go from us.
I wish the very best for his family and friends, and may he rest in peace.
I think that we should indeed send his family a letter together or each. I am sure they need all the support they can get and I am sure we all have enough love to give.
I as well support the notion to automatically grant him the Hall of Fame title.

I had utmost respect as a player and yes we had some heated discussions and more heated battles-galore, as I remember my reference to him as the "Jack-booted" Fascists war monger. For several years we played hard and he taught me much!
I am gonna miss his presence!

IN short: nothing I could say would be adequate or do justice to this situation.

Or even to expound by saying sometimes NOT saying things Sprayber, as we all fall short of some expectations, forgivenss in circumstances..
I really like this guy and although I didnt know him in the R/L sense, I feel I was blessed with some of his humor and insight as well as watching him dodge the Moderators (and I mean this brought a smile to my heart when I first read the post of his passing..I remember the good times and a smile of his rantings...
I will deeply miss his presence here...so sad prayers unto his family...
