Now that we have Stuttgart, how will we keep it ours?
our president made a very interesting suggstion:
Rush a palace in Stuttgart
since the location of cour capital isn't important under this govt I think this would really be a good choice.
The other options we have is:
Build a courthouse and a diplo or two to defend it from bribery.
This is what could defend us against possible bribery but there is still the force of the sword.
Stuttgart has barracks and walls, but which defenders would we place there?
Fanatics: 4/4/1- 2/1 20shields
Riflemen: 5/4/1- 2/1 40shields
Alpine Troops: 5/5/1 - 2/1 50shields
(+ some strong attackers?)
what about the road...I suggest we explore it and place sentries at some strategic points.
(see map)

It has never seemed to me that a Dip/Spy will *protect* a city from bribery, so I decided to check the Great Library thread.
The Great Library (Diplomats and Spies, 11.2 and 11.3) suggests that Dips/Spies only protect a city against "steal technology", not "incite revolt".

I think moving the palace is a clever idea, but I'm opposed on philosophical and defence-based reasons. Our current capital is safe, for the most part; moving it to an isolated city seems risky. Maybe not really risky, but somewhat risky. Also, I am opposed to the seat of our government being placed among filthy foreigners
Build fanatics. Riflemen don't offer enough of an improvement for double the shield cost. Ditto for Alpines. For example, rather than building 3 Alpines, we could have 3 Fanatics and 2 Cavalry for only 10 extra shields...
By all means, explore the road.

The best defense against bribery is a good offense. Sentries ought to scout the terrain for uninvited and unwanted guests.
Just build Fanatics to protect our cities, so that we can devote the shields to Calvary construction.

How at risk is Stuttgart, and is it worth devoting the effort of a Palace to? When can we have this Palace "up and running", as it were? Multiple units with a killzone to lure diplos into seems great unless it is a very valuable target and is going to face considerable attempts at conquest from the AI. Is it the city with Mike's? And if we build a Palace here, is there anywhere else we would be depriving of this tactic?
With one statement and five questions, I end this post.

Stuttgart is on our frontier, and is vunerable to diplomats, since the Germans have a large cash treasury.

Yes, Stuttgart has mike's Chapel. Under Fundamentalism, there is no corruption, so palace location does not matter.

Stuttgart, with Mike's, is probably the single most valuable city in the world right now to both us *and* the Germans (both being Fundy govt). It is probably safe from military attack, but very vulnerable to being bribed. We might require 12 units to stack sentries in such a way that a Dip could not get through, and there are limits to how fast we can build those units.
However, for only 192G, we can have our Palace there *next* turn, and the city would be unbribable. Imperialis is the current capital, and it is not remotely in danger, nor does it being the capital help us in any way.

Then allow me to cast the deciding vote after the poll end: move the Palace there. Also, I would vote for some strong attackers as well as some Fanatics, sentried around the city until we have pushed the boundaries back further from Stuttgart.

We need a new capital, and Stuttgart is a great choice.
Nice plan.
All we need now is a load of units there to blast the Germans. We'd all be mighty ****ed off if the Germans bribed it this turn. But the palace is a great defence. It's not like we're going to lose our spaceship.

orders have been send. I'll leave it up to Cavebear to build a palace or troops in Stuttgart.
