Jumping the Kazaa ship
I'm just curious as to how many people have changed their file-sharing habits because of the now 400+ lawsuits filed by the RIAA.
If you now use something other than Kazaa, please say what.

I primarily use WinMx, supplemented by KazaaLite.
RIAA can kiss my ass.
HOWEVER, I did have a dream the other night that a former Texas Attorney General with 2 Texas Rangers showed up at the door.
Odd.

I've never used Kazaa. In the past year, I've given up on P2P programs altogether.

I used the original Napster for a few months before legal complications came up for them, then I just stopped. Now I have a quarter-gig of iTunes Music Store songs.

There are tons of legally tradable MP3s out there. Many unsigned bands release their songs on P2P networks as a way to get their music heard and to build a name for themselves.

I tried Kazaa once, laughed, and went back to eDonkey.

I've been wondering whether the RIAA is smart enough to track down k lite users as well. There doesn't seem to be any mention of them in any of the lawsuit articles.

Kazaa has many flaws.... I prefer DC++. Unlike Kazaa, it does actually have a ton of legal files. I have downloaded there some very good documentation about various aspects of programming, as well as tons of other stuff.

Holy ****, few people get sued and everyone loses their balls all of sudden.
I still use kazaa lite. In fact I use it a bit more now to insult peers around me who have become bunch of wusses. But I prefer edonkey and bittorrent (but bittorent NOT installed on MY OWN computer! )

I'm with Sloww (on WinMX)
Actually, I have dropped WinMX last year because my uni didn't allow any P2P program, and the security couldn't be bypassed.
Now, I don't download that much on WinMX. Some anime episodes and that's about it. However, I'm an active sharer, and I share as much as my harddrive space allows. It's my way of saying "take that RIAA ******* !"
I just can't bear these little cretins are trying to hamper the way media will be distributed in the future

Not exactly. I don't have Kazaa Lite, but all of them seem to go by the username kazaaliteuser@kazaa. If they're all named the same thing, they might be harder to track down.

All of the lawsuites I've seen aren't for downloading but for hosting/offering items for download. I download all sorts of stuff from Kazaa Lite but I make sure that my shared folder stays empty so I won't be on the recieving end of a lawsuit.
I guess that makes me a leach but I'm a leach who won't be getting any summons.

eDonkey/eMule forever. It has a wider selection and it tends to keep me at an honest 1:1 ratio without any wild swings one way or another.

K lite automatically blocks all known RIAA IP addresses and they are constintly updating as the RIAA changes IPs. K lite also makes it more time consuming for the RIAA to figure out a persons IP address. That won't stop them but it does mean they'll have to devote more man hours to each case and, in the end, they'll have to file fewer cases.
Since the RIAA is forced to file fewer ases it will naturally concentrate it's efforts upon the worst offenders. People who offer thousands of files and who opporate as super nodes will get sued first and most of the rest of us will slip below their radar screen. That will still mean fewer files will be offered for download and it will take longer to download what is available but the RIAA can't stop it. They can only slow it down.

I stopped using Kazaa regularly a long time ago...just use it once in a while to find "popular" files that aren't on emule or winmx or IRC....
