Camoflague in WWII
Hey,
I was wondering if anyone had a website, or websites with camo patterns for Japanese, German, American, British and Soviet tanks in WWII.

Thanks

Pap

Try www.wwiivehicles.com and www.achtungpanzer.com, maybe you find something on www.lexikonderwehrmacht.de (german site) too. You can also always try www.geocities.com/pentagon/2833/.

I use this as a source for camouflage, Pap:

http://www.activevr.com/afv/camouflage.html

As you probably know, the US just tended to paint their AFVs olive drab and the UK a darker green; they very rarely used camo. The UK did use so-called 'mickey mouse' camo (black circular pattern like the aforementioned cartoon rodent's ears) on a dark green base for soft-skinned vehicles. They mostly used just plain green on their tanks.

Germany used a variety of camo patterns from I think early 43 onwards; before then they painted their tanks grey. From '43 onwards all vehicles were painted a dark sand yellow with many different camo patterns, usually including dark green and red-brown as the main colours painted over the yellow base.

Check out the camo pattern technique and colours Catfish used on a Panther and JagdPanther; these are very nicely done and are good representations of the real thing.
