Basically its looking right now that HOTW4 is gonna end up like HOTW2, a big all out war with lots of bad feelings. I think this is a great option because it brings all the players together for a common purpose. Turns civ on its head and gives us a cooperative victory.

This isn't highlander, there can be more than one.

Plus it'll be something interesting that hasn't been done before. I think it'll be fun to try. Don't worry Raz, we've all got your back.

So, there is no city limit on capture in one turn it seems. A big all out war should NOT result in hard feelings. It's the way the game was designed. Diplo should avoid all out war but there are civilisations at work in this world that are determined to precipitate war as the end game.

Today's session involved an attack across the entire map. Units from South Africa were diploguided across 15,000 miles of teritory. Cities were ceded left and right. The game essientally game to a standstill as my empire was helpless against this method of attack, since it is against the rules I assumed the game was based upon.

Diploguiding was to be banned/limited. There was no one standing up to diploguilding. Even if it was only to be limited, the creation of an advanced attack force, moved so far, and around so many obsticals could not have been the intention of those starting the game, or previous diplo games where diploguiding had been banned.

Diploguiding is banned for the following reasons.

1) To give fortresses some strategic value within the game.

2) Keep rail networks from being abused. Both allied, and non-allied.

3) The tactic fails to meet any tests of realism, which diplo gaming attempts to bring to the game.


Because of this fact, players were able to manipulate game conditions, which essientally destroyed the game scenario.

As to the question of cedeing cities, as a possible justification for diploguiding. Cedeing cities, even amongst allies, results in the destruction of the happiness improvements in the city. While the results may be exactly the same, the damage must be suffered by both sides if this tactic is to be adhered to.

Cedeing cities solely for the purpose of allowing a 2 continent wide assault, in and of itself, smells of unrealism, and goes against the purpose of diplo gaming, which is not to manipulate the raw game features diplomacy allows for double moves, limitless rail travel across rail networks that otherwise would not support them, etc......it is about real treatries and independent fighting on the fronts available to a player without manipulating the system.

all these things occured throughout the game, but none were a problem till frank was at the brunt of the attack..

if diplo gduind and city ceding were the problem then he should hav ebrought it up much ealrier.

It is impossible to confirm any of these acts untill you are smashed by them. I don't oppose city cedeing except in its unrealistic nature. I just demand you give up all the cities required to take the action without diploguiding, and not attempt to dodge those results.

I'm not under any requirement to stand up for other's rights with circumstantual evidense, and that stance doesn't take away my right to defend my self from those attacks.

well deity got a whole chain of citys in asia so didnt need diplo guiding thorugh tha tpart.. not sure about thorugh t your territory..

Can someone post a final save?

We should probably test out the save sometime during the week to avoid problems when the session starts next week. Make sure its uncorrupted.

Once the save is up I can make up one of my dandy maps. Raz, you need to do another animation of them all. Especially with the... developments...from last session.
