The Abomination which Desolates
What is this that was to happen in the midst of the week referred to by Jesus in Matthew 24:15 in reference to Daniel 9:27. The wise are to understand, do you? Most don't today!
It is the opinion of this author that this has already taken place and that because of false teachings people are lead astray. This article will show that JESUS fullfilled these verses already. If this belief is scripture properly interpreted than it is latter than most would think.
WHEN YE THEREFOR SHALL SEE THE ABOMINATION OF DESOLATION, SPOKEN OF BY DANIEL THE PROPHET, STAND IN THE HOLY PLACE , (WHOSO READETH, LET HIM UNDERSTAND:) (Mat.24:15).
AND HE SHALL CONFIRM THE COVENANT WITH MANY FOR ONE WEEK: AND IN THE MIDST OF THE WEEK HE SHALL CAUSE THE SACRIFICE AND THE OBLATION TO CEASE, AND FOR THE OVERSPREADING OF ABOMINATIONS HE SHALL MAKE it DESOLATE, EVEN UNTIL THE CONSUMATION, AND THAT DETERMINED SHALL BE POURED UPON THE DESOLATE (Dan.9:27).
When asked by the diciples,
...AND WHAT shall be THE SIGN OF THY COMING, AND OF THE END OF THE WORLD (Mat.24:3)?
Sitting upon the mount of Olives, Jesus answered them privately saying many things one of which is Mat.24:15 seen above.
This was a question asked and answered in private to the disciples. We should gather from this that it is also to be know by his own who have understanding. The scriptures are not something that can be understood by the unbeliever.
FOR THE WRATH OF GOD IS REVEALED FROM HEAVEN AGAINST ALL UNGODLINESS AND UNRIGHTEOUSNESS:....FOR THIS CAUSE GOD GAVE THEM UP UNTO VILE AFFECTIONS:...WITHOUT UNDERSTANDING, COVENANTBREAKERS, WITHOUT NATURAL AFFECTION,.. (Ro.1:18,26,31).
So when we see Jesus tell us that we are to understand about Daniel 9:27 it is not with the same understanding that the unbeliever would use in grasping the situation.
The child of God must attempt to do his study of the Word of God always in understanding?
The unbeliever will not be able to see what the believer can see!
If the unbeliever and believer sees the same one is not allowing the Spirit of God to reveal that which is hidden from the other.
Today we are told that the antichrist will one day stand in a rebuilt Jewish temple. That he will proclaim himself as God. That he will stop animal sacrifices that today do not exist but will be reinstituted in the Jewish temple which is not built yet. This belief is based upon Daniel 9:27 and then is backed up by additional twisting of scripture. This twisting of scripture was happening in Jeremiah's time.
HOW DO YE SAY, WE are WISE, AND THE LAW OF THE LORD is WITH US? LO, CERTAINLY IN VAIN MEAD HE it; THE PEN OF THE SCRIBES is IN VAIN. THE WISE men ARE ASHAMED, THEY ARE DISMAYED AND TAKEN: LO, THEY HAVE REJECTED THE WORD OF THE LORD; AND WHAT WISDOM is IN THEM (Jer.8:8-9)?
The scribes or liars have done a good job of hiding the true meaning of scriptures. They did it in days gone by and they continue to do it today.
What is the week that was to be split in the midst by the abomination as referred to in Dan.9:27? Peter and Psalms both tell us that 1000 years is a day with God. A week with God then would be 7000 years. By this reasoning the middle of the week would fall around the 3500th year or after 3 1/2 days. The word midst does not mean exactly in the middle but also can mean to splint into two parts.
The greatest abomination of all time was when the Son of God was crucified in Jerusalem. This is the abomination that happened in the midst of the 7000 year week of God. This event took place around 29 AD this was after 4000 + years since the creation of Adam. This took place at the conclusion of the 4th day or at the beginning of the 5th day of God. This abomination certainly can be seen to have taken place in the midst on the 5th day of the week. This is a necessary requirement in the interpretation of Dan.9:27.
This verse also is following the 26th verse which clearly states that it is about the MESSIAH. He is the Prince that shall come. The Messiah is the Prince of Peace. The 27th verse changes to HE this is the same person that was being talked about in the verse before. It was HE, the PRINCE of Peace, the coming MESSIAH that upon his own death caused the sacrificing of animals to be of no more value. Only Jesus Christ had the power by his own death to overcome the need for the blood of animals for the remission of sins. His blood was the sacrifice once and for all time.
The same verse speaks of a covenat that would be confirmed at this time, the midst of the week. What covenant? It is the COVENANT OF RESTORATION.
AND I WILL PUT ENMITY BETWEEN THEE AND THE WOMAN, AND BETWEEN THY SEED AND HER SEED; IT SHALL BRUISE THY HEAD, AND THOU SHALT BRUISE HIS HEEL (Gen.3:15).
This is the covenant God made that would restore mankind back to the position from which Adam fell. The COVENANT OF RESTORATION certainly was confirmed by God sending his ONLY BEGOTTEN SON to die so that we, fallen mankind, could find restoration thru him. This was done in the open upon a hill for the whole world to see and MANY did see as the scripture said they would.
So what we have so far is the following as they pertain to Jesus fulfilling the scripture:
AND AFTER THREESCORE AND TWO WEEKS SHALL MESSIAH BE CUT OFF, BUT NOT FOR HIMSELF: AND THE PRINCE THAT SHALL COME SHALL DESTROY THE CITY AND THE SANCTUARY; AND THE END THEREOF shall be WITH A FLOOD, AND UNTO THE END OF THE WAR DESOLATIONS ARE DETERMINED (Dan.9:26).
Certainly Jesus the Messiah came to be cut off for others and not for himself. He had no sin in him but he died for others that their sins would find a covering in the blood of his righteousness. For the abomination of his death at the hand of those in Jerusalem the city and the sanctuary was soon destroyed after his death, around the year 70 AD. The scripture says that this time of desolation would continue until the end which would come in like a flood.
AND THE SERPENT CAST OUT OF HIS MOUTH WATER AS A FLOOD AFTER THE WOMAN,...(Rev.12:15).
We are also told that until the end of this war desolation would continue. This war of desolation would continue until the consummation. At this time the dragon,serpent/satan is to be bound inthe pit for 1000 years. His flood of deceiving words at the hand of lying scribes will nolongr cause confusion upon those he would try to desolate. The time of consummation spoken of is the consummation of the wedding. At this time the time of the consummation a pouring will be upon the desolate. Joel speaks of a former and a latter rain. The former rain was poured out upon Jesus' diciples on the day of Pentecost. The latter rain will be poured out on the day of the consummation of the wedding.
AND IT SHALL COME TO PASS AFTERWARD, that I WILL POUR OUT MY SPIRIT UPON ALL FLESH;... (Joel 2:28).
What we can add now to those fact first gleaned is the conclusion of the matter.
With this interpretaion of the scriptures of Daniel 9:26-27 we see one thing and one thing only. That is is much latter than most in the church world believe it is.
We see that to look for some being to confirm some manmade peace covenant is to look in the wrong direction. To wait for a temple to be built that this individual can stand in one day stopping animal sacrifices that are no longer required is to chase a myth. To await a war that is already waged against the children of God in deception is deception.
What one must be careful about is that the wrong interpretation of the scriptures of Dan.9:26-27 is to deny what Jesus did on the cross in the midst of the week of God some 2 days (2000 years) ago.
LITTLE CHILDREN, IT IS THE LAST TIME: AND AS YE HAVE HEARD THAT ANTICHRIST SHALL COME, EVEN NOW ARE THERE MANY ANTICHRISTS; WHEREBY WE KNOW THAT IT IS THE LAST TIME. WHO IS A LIAR BUT HE THAT DENIETH THAT JESUS IS THE CHRIST? HE IS ANTICHRIST THAT DENIETH THE FATHER AND THE SON. (I Jo.2:18,22).
The case above proves that Christ stopped the sacrifice and oblation in the midst of a week of time as God copunts time or 7000 years.
